Marais Yves Chatelaillon Co
It's child's play to immerse yourself in the natural world of châtelaillonnaise!
Châtelaillon, a resort that breathes
Marais Yves Chatelaillon CoThere’s no need to look for nature in Châtelaillon: it’s everywhere! Accessible all year round, it breathes life into the resort and brings the whole tribe together for some great escapades. Whether on foot or by bike, you’ll love the simple, refreshing feeling of freedom.
From east to west, the landscapes change and reveal new playgrounds. Explore the foreshore and its teeming little world as the sea recedes, before admiring the unspoilt flora and fauna of the Yves marshes.
Not so fast, the children have lots of questions! It’s a great opportunity to create some wonderful memories together and share some bonding moments.
And to answer some of their questions on the spot, come and discover the birds that live in the area.
Fishing on foot, a family affair!
Papi and I love going fishing together. I’ve checked the tide times, so we can go now! I put on my boots and jacket, and don’t forget my ruler to measure everything I catch. If it’s too small, I won’t take it!
On the foreshore, Grandpa tells me that it brings back memories. He teaches me how to catch prawns and flush out the little crabs that scurry away. Great, the clams and cockles are the right size, so we can take them home!

On the way back, we say hello to an oyster farmer who is off to work on his tractor.
Understanding nature better with the Yves Marshes nature reserve

What is a nature reserve?
How can I visit it?
It’s an opportunity to take time out to watch nature grow and to make children aware of the importance of preserving it.

My favourite moment? It’s when the sun sets over the Reserve, there’s a magic in the air, you’re in total harmony with nature.
Tip of the day: a 100% nature picnic
For a family day out in the great outdoors, get on your bikes and hit the road! Head for the small villages and countryside surrounding Châtelaillon. Once the tablecloth has been laid, it’s time to sit down to dinner in a charming rural setting.
All around us, bees are buzzing and the wind is rustling the leaves. What’s that funny-looking bird in the fields? It looks like a hoopoe with a hood on its head! And that flower? I saw one at the Yves marshes, it’s a wild orchid. From the parents to the children, we don’t know who has learnt the most today!
