Spa Nuxe and restaurant Gaya in Châtelaillon: the Grande Terrasse opens its doors to us!

Celebrating 10 years of marriage! To mark the occasion, we’re treating ourselves to a little treat outside Paris: 3 dreamy days at the heart of the Grande Terrasse. An exceptional venue for an exceptional date. Reception, Nuxe spa and Gaya restaurant in Châtelaillon, our best friends have tried it, and they say it’s top notch. Now it’s our turn!

A royal welcome

As soon as we arrived in Châtelaillon, we were surprised by the charm of this small seaside town. Simple and elegant, exactly what we were looking for!

We wandered between the pretty, colourful houses before climbing up to the cliff overlooking the bay, and then… what a view! We’re already enjoying it.

The welcome at the hotel was of the same standard, with the appearance of the manager, Mr Monin. He had a surprise in store for us: a glass of champagne on the terrace overlooking the sea, to toast our 10th wedding anniversary. As for our room, it’s a little cocoon in shades of blue, a reminder of the nearby ocean.

Absolute relaxation at the Spa Nuxe

The rest is pure relaxation…

Meet up in our private Nuxe suite for the occasion and let yourself be pampered side by side. After a relaxing 4-hand massage, we choose to bask in the bubbles of the jacuzzi. A real treat.

Our favourite feature is the multi-sensory shower with its different atmospheres. We’ll remember our trip to the tropical islands for a long time to come!

We finished off with a few dips in the Spa Nuxe’s uncluttered decor and a tête-à-tête with the sun in the outdoor jacuzzi. Impossible to test everything this morning… We’ll reserve the magnificent hammam for tomorrow.

An extraordinary meal at the Gaya restaurant in Châtelaillon

A debut at the Gaya bistro in Châtelaillon

Top, there’s still one place left at the Gaya bistro in Châtelaillon! After a quick look around, it’s beef tartare for me and penne with arrabbiata for Madame.

The afternoon’s programme included a lazy afternoon on the fake beach on the hotel’s promontory. We love the idea, and the facilities are very comfortable.

Day 2

On the advice of locals, we set off to discover the village of Boucholeurs. We were not disappointed...

This ancient hamlet has stood the test of time and preserved the soul of the sea. Not to mention a visit to the oyster beds booked by the hotel and a tasting session at the Saveurs Nacrées hut!

In the evening, we make ourselves elegant for the summer beach party held on the hotel terrace. It’s the not-to-be-missed event of the summer, we’re told.

Day 3

We couldn’t leave Châtelaillon without a trip to the market. And just as well, it’s Friday! We stocked up on sweets and specialities for our friends, including the essential bottle of Pineau Charentais.

The afternoon is devoted to visiting La Rochelle. Just 15 minutes from here, it would be a shame not to make the most of it… We’ll be back, but this time at the Ibis hotel for a thalasso cure.
