Quality and labels

From Quality Tourism to Destination of Excellence

A structured approach to the tourism offer

The Châtelaillon-Plage Tourist Office has been involved in a quality initiative since 2012, supporting local professionals in their projects to obtain quality labels for their tourism offering, in line with the national Destination d’Excellence initiative.

Within this framework, the Tourist Office plays a relay and facilitating role, by informing, guiding and promoting the professionals involved in a quality approach, for the benefit of the overall attractiveness of the destination.

Supported labels and initiatives

The Tourist Office team can, on request, provide you with information and guidance on how to apply for the labels and schemes listed below.
Depending on your activity and objectives, we can help you to identify the scheme best suited to your establishment.

The national Qualité Tourisme™ scheme is evolving towards a new government reference label: Destination d’Excellence (DEX).

Destination d’Excellence recognises the quality of the welcome, tourist services and the commitment of tourism professionals to a continuous process of excellence and progress.

A gradual transition until 2026
The Qualité Tourisme™ mark, the only State mark awarded to tourism professionals for the quality of their welcome and services, will expire on 31 December 2026.

Since May 2024, it has been gradually replaced by the Destination d’Excellence (DEX) scheme, supported by Atout France.
This new label extends existing requirements by fully integrating eco-responsibility issues into the entire tourism offering.

What it means for professionals
Moving from Qualité Tourisme™ to Destination d’Excellence (DEX) involves :

  • a supervised labelling process, including a compulsory mystery visit ;
  • The label is valid for 5 years, with regular monitoring of quality and commitments;
  • for structures already holding the Qualité Tourisme™ label, validation of the Ecoresponsible pillar as part of the transition to Destination d’Excellence.

The transition to Destination d’Excellence is a gradual process, in line with the actions taken at destination level.

Today, the Charentes is a benchmark destination in terms of tourist accessibility, with almost 500 accommodation facilities, sites and activities awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label.
