A festive meal in the Châtelaillon style

The end-of-year festivities wouldn’t be what they are without the traditional New Year’s Eve meal! It’s a time to get together with family and friends and enjoy some exceptional produce. And for a successful festive meal, what better way than to ask the advice of local producers and shopkeepers who know their products inside out!

Where can you buy oysters? Which restaurants offer a New Year’s Eve menu? When is the market open during the festive season? Find all the information you need to prepare your festive evenings.

Choosing and buying oysters for the festive season

The undisputed queens of the festive menu, oysters always embody the festive spirit of this time of year. And that’s just as well, because this is when they’re at their tastiest! In Charente-Maritime, France’s leading oyster-producing region, oyster farmers are hard at work supplying the country’s tables with oysters.

The covered market in Christmas mode

During the festive season, the covered market will be opening its doors to you:

  • Tuesday 24 December from 8am to 4pm
  • Wednesday 25 December from 7am to 1pm
  • Saturday 31st December from 8am to 4pm

Stock up on local produce to create the perfect New Year’s Eve menu!

And all year round, the Châtelaillon-Plage market welcomes you on Tuesday and Friday mornings. The covered market is open every Tuesday from 8am to 1pm.
