Châtelaillon by train, bike or on foot: a great idea

What about the car? We’ll do without it this weekend! If we open the boot, it’ll be of the resort’s treasures. Calm, a break from everyday life and unspoilt surroundings: priceless. And if we brake, it will be to let ourselves be carried away… On foot, by bike or by train, Châtelaillon has more than enough to do for you!

Châtelaillon by train

Holidays on track!

We’re on our way! ?️

Coming from Paris, Poitiers or Tours? Take the TGV to La Rochelle:

? Paris ➡️ La Rochelle: 3h

? Bordeaux ➡️ La Rochelle: 2h

? Nantes ➡️ La Rochelle : 2h

To get to Châtelaillon-Plage, hop on a TER. A 7-minute journey with a view of the sea: the children won’t even have time to get impatient…

Châtelaillon, a two-minute stop! The good news is that the station is ideally located in the centre of the resort. Once you’ve arrived on the platform, all you have to do is return to your accommodation. Haven’t found your accommodation yet? Take a look here.

We’re off again!

Head for the white city of La Rochelle for a breath of spring air. Leave your bike on the train and head along the coast to the station. 500 metres further on, you’re in the town centre, in the cool of the harbour. Shuttle or bus, the choice is yours as you cross the bridge to the Ile de Ré.

Let’s explore! ?

➡️ Rochefort and its Fort Boyard (15 mins away)

➡️ Saintes and its Roman heritage (30 mins away)

➡️ Bordeaux and its famous water mirror (1h30 away)

Psst: Guess what? La Rochelle could become France’s first zero-carbon urban area by 2040. Fingers crossed!

Want to see life in yellow? It couldn’t be easier with Yélo self-service bikes! Just pay (a small fee), borrow and head off at lightning speed. You can find them at the Tourist Office and near the station. Let’s get away from it all!

Tip: Some hotels make bicycles available during your stay. What about yours?
